Steven Sigurdson, Cellist
A graduate of The Julliard School, Mr. Sigurdson studied cello with Leonard Rose and Channing Robbins, and was twice a fellow at Tanglewood Music Center. In addition, he was Principal Cellist of the Spoleto Music Festival in Italy.
Mr. Sigurdson was a founding member of the Guinness String Quartet and was also the cellist of the Graff Piano Trio in New York City, with whom he performed in Japan as finalists in the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in 1996. He also performed extensively as a soloist with different orchestras, nationally and abroad, and has given recitals throughout the US, as well as Italy and Japan. He was the principal Cellist of the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra and was a first prize winner of the National Society of Arts and Letters Cello Competition in Florida.
As both a cellist and conductor, Mr. Sigurdson is the founder and music director of the Haydn Society of Florida, a recent addition to South Florida's thriving chamber music community. |
